Hull
Both the hull and the deck is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

Interior
The boat is equipped with 8 berths and a galley.
The headroom is above average

Rig
The boat equipped with a fractional rig. A fractional rig has smaller headsails which make tacking easier, which is an advantage for cruisers and racers, of course. The downside is that having the wind from behind often requires a genaker or a spinnaker for optimal speed.

Keel

The Maxus 33 is equipped with a centerboard keel. A centerboard keel is a pivoting lifting keel, allowing to sail both coastal and inland waters.

The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.

The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 0.50 - 0.60 meter (1.64 - 1.94 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.

Engine

Maxus 33 is typically equipped with an inboard Volvo Penta D1-20S diesel engine at 20.0 hp (14 kW).

The transmission is a saildrive.
