The Hallberg-Rassy 382 or HR 382 is a motorsailer designed by the Swedish maritime architect Olle Enderlein in the mid eighties. A few hundred boats have been produced. The Hallberg-Rassy 382 is built by the Swedish yard Hallberg-Rassy Varvs AB.

Hull
The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

The interior is like many other boats made of mahogany.
The boat is equipped with a galley.

Keel

The Hallberg-Rassy 382 is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel.

The keel is made of lead. Compared with iron, lead has the advantage of being 44% heavier, which allows a smaller keel and hence less water resistance and higher speed.

The boat can only enter major marinas as the draft is about 1.84 - 1.94 meter (6.04 - 6.34 ft) dependent on the load. See immersion rate below.


Engine

Hallberg-Rassy 382 is typically equipped with an inboard Volvo Penta MD30 diesel engine at 62.0 hp (46 kW).

The fuel tank has a capacity of 335.0 liters (88 US gallons, 73 imperial gallons).
