Review of Ohlson 35

The Ohlson 35 is a sailboat designed by the Swedish maritime architect Einar Ohlson in the late fifties. Less than 100 boats have been produced. The Ohlson 35 is built by the Swedish yard Ohlson Brothers.

Hull

The hull is made of wood while the deck is made of plywood.

Interior

The interior is like many other boats made of mahogany.
The boat is equipped with a galley and 57.0 liter waste water capacity.

Engine

The boat is typically equipped with an inboard Universal Atomic 4 gasoline engine at 30.0 hp (22 kW).

The transmission is a shaft drive. A shaft drive will in the long run require less maintenence than other types of drive e.g. a sail drive.

The fuel tank which is made of has a capacity of 60.0 liters (15 US gallons, 13 imperial gallons).

The term shall be interpreted as above the theoretical speed a great additional power is necessary for a small gain in speed.

The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Ohlson 35 is about 145 kg/cm, alternatively 814 lbs/inch.
Meaning: if you load 145 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 814 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.
